Yellow and Gray

So I have been in love with yellow for the past couple of months. One of my favorite pairings with yellow is gray. I find it so happy and playful yet sophisticated.

If I had my wedding to do over again, gray and yellow would be my colors! It's light and airy, it’s a tad quirky and it’s the perfect palette for spring or summer weddings.

I may not be able to have a wedding do over, but I have been itching to redecorate my kitchen! The walls are already yellow so it would just be a matter of incorporating some gray and black accents.

Anyway, here are a few yellow and gray items from my shop…

The Twilight Saga: Eclipse!!!

I saw The Twilight Saga: Eclipse last night. Ok, I admit, last night was my second time seeing it. I went to the midnight showing opening night at the IMAX with my girl friends. Last night we all took our husbands, who were very good sports!
Once I got past all the horrible wigs I was able to really enjoy the movie. This one really stayed true to the book and I really liked the action scenes. Though, I did my fair share of eye rolling, I have to say I had fun with this one! I wouldn’t give it an A+ or anything but it was definitely enjoyable. Of course I am a Twilight fan and in the end I think I’m just too close and too biased to be a good judge.
BUT I will say that as with the previous movies, my favorite parts include Billy Burke as Charlie Swan. He steels every scene he’s in and has the best acting skills of anyone in the film.
Anyway, I created an Eclipse inspired etsy treasury that I think turned out really well!
Enjoy!

Today's Lunch Menu

One f the perks of working from home is that I get to take the time to make delicious food for myself whenever I want.

Today for lunch I made pan fried cod fillet seasoned with garlic & basil and a romaine and spinach salad with homemade blue cheese dressing.

I seasoned the fillet with basil and garlic and cooked in a pan with a generous amount of butter (mmmm) over medium high heat. Cook for about 4-5 minutes per side or until done. Salt and pepper to taste.

The ridiculously large salad (I ate about double what I have pictured) is one small head of romaine lettuce, roughly chopped baby spinach, croutons and homemade bleu cheese dressing.

My husband works for a gourmet food distributor, Paris Brothers, as the cheese and charcuterie category manager so we always have an abundance of delicious cheeses and cured meats at our house. For the dressing I used Point Reyes Bleu (I would also recommend Maytag blue). I crumbled the cheese, added a bit of mayonnaise, sour cream, a splash of cream and salt to taste. Finish with a drizzle of extra virgin olive oil and black pepper.

This so beats the ham and cheese sandwich I normally take to work!

Spring Romance Collection

These new pieces combine the bright colors we all love to wear in spring with classic and romantic finishing touches.

The pearls, ribbon and lace really give these necklaces a vintage feel.

Though it has taken me a while to get used to my new schedule, the creative juices are finally flowing and I've been able to turn out a few pieces that I'm very proud of!

Positive Thinking and Goal Setting!

I minored in psychology in college and was privileged enough to take a few classes at Avila taught by Dr. Maria Hunt that focused on mindfulness. I really enjoyed her classes; it opened up the world of positive thinking, the mind-body connection and the idea that what you focus your energy on grows.

I started by cutting words like can’t, don’t, wont, hate out of my vocabulary and thoughts. The idea is that if I focus on what I can’t have, don’t want or dislike I am attracting those things to me because it’s what I put my energy into.

Another tool I use is a gratitude journal. It’s not simply writing down the things that I am grateful for; it is taking a moment to really feel joy and appreciation for the wonderful things I have in my life. By focusing my energy on the things I love and enjoy, I attract more of those types of things into my life.

One of the exercises Dr. Hunt had us do in class was taking the time to write down where we see ourselves in the future. So I like to take time to sort of map out my ideal future. I really try to let my imagination run wild. I start with big picture/long-term goals and then I get down to the specific details. It gives me direction and focus. But again the key here is to imagine how it would feel to have those accomplished. I like to meditate on the feeling of accomplishment and satisfaction that I will experience. This really helps me feel like my wildest dreams are achievable.

I’ve been working on a vision board that will help me visualize the things I want. My vision board includes everything from bedroom furniture and a new TV to my ideal body and a successful business.

My current focus is on my Etsy shop as it is now my main source of income. Today I realized that I need to refocus and get back on track. I have taken some time today to outline my goals for MissBettyLou and where I want to be in the future. I am already feeling more confident, motivated and focused! So only positive thoughts and gratitude from here on out!

Stay at Home Mom to a Bloodhound Baby!

Starting next week I’ll be working only one day a week at my “day job” so I’ll be able to focus my full attention to MissBettyLou! I really can’t wait. Monday cannot get here soon enough. There is so much I want to get accomplished!

I’m not the only one excited about it…my bloodhound baby, Lola Bee, really looks forward to having a stay at home mom! Well, she's not really a baby-she's nearly 3 but she'll always me my baby!

And my husband is really looking forward to a clean house and home cooked meal every evening. I’m not making any promises but I do look forward to having more spare time to get housework done.
I’ve already told myself that I’ll get up at 6:30 every morning (well, I’ll set the alarm for 6:30) to work out and fix my husband breakfast and make is lunch.

In other news; I created a Twitter account for Miss Betty Lou this morning! I figured I’ll need something to fill my newly found free time! Look me up @MissBettyLou!
